Extra Curricular

extracurricularband

“Extra Curricular are a Hip Hop/Soul group from Huddersfield, UK. Fronted by Jack Flash, Ruby Wood and Thabo Mkwananzi the group also feature a live horn section, turntables and samplers, alongside electric guitar, bass, and drums.

Formed from an exclusive after-hours jam club, Extra Curricular have been pushing their unique brand of soul-driven hip hop music on the UK live circuit since early 2009. The EC live show is something to be witnessed; they involve the whole crowd from start to finish taking the listener on a journey through hip hop grooves, soulful vocals, and huge anthemic choruses. In February 2011 Extra Curricular signed with Pigeonhole This!, a genre-defying label run by DJ superstar Doorly.”

“Needle sharp, tight as a drum! The lean funk stylings of Huddersfield 9-piece Extra Curricular… The Rhythm section could just of easily of come out of New Orleans or Mussel Shoals as Huddersfield!”

Slightly Stoopid

slightlystoopid

“With more than a decade of making music together, the members of Slightly Stoopid have perfected one of the rarest and most valuable skills a band can develop: the art of the stealth groove, that knack for quietly, almost innocently, sliding into a composition, and utterly lassoing anyone within earshot by midsong. That’s where the band has come to reside, musically: deep in the pocket, that ever-elusive, funky trench where a band can entrance an audience, hypnotize it and hold on to it until the set or CD is finished. Built on a bedrock of nasty, oceanic slabs of dubby bass, meditative vocal harmonies, rock-steady guitar licks and tightly syncopated percussive rhythms, Slightly Stoopid illustrates a case study in underground success, steeped in years of hard touring, an improvisational business model, and a creative process that continues to unwind and push the envelope of a new jam-based genre the band helped to create.

The buzz surrounding the group continues to increase with each successive release; their album catalog sales have topped the 900,000 mark under their own record label, Stoopid Records, and the group continues to play sold-out shows at the most prestigious concert venues around the world. In addition to that, their annual summer amphitheatre tours consistently rank in Pollstar’s top concert tours of the year.”

We’re a band what comes from Medway. We done one million gigs. Yep, one million.Only about 700 real gigs though. Got quite a few more coming up. We used to ride around in a knackered old van named Pam. She’s was a beautiful old thing. Stank of sweat and petrol. We sleep wherever we find the space, eat whatever we can afford and play any room we can get in to. We have horns to blast your face, bass to rumble your feet, drums to bang your head, guitar to jangle your cockles and vocals that make you wana shout at us.
